This ranking lifts the veil on the most important contributors to our economy – the companies that move us forward and create and sustain jobs.
This year we partnered again with the University of Derby to rank the top companies.
Looking at the 2018 league standings sponsored by Champions UK plc, it’s encouraging to see that many of our ‘big hits’ are still at the top.
But perhaps even more exciting is that the companies that have improved their rankings from last year, not to mention the number of new entrants, are proving that we have depth.
All this was achieved under difficult conditions. Twelve months ago we talked about the uncertainty caused by Brexit. Today we are still talking about it.
Hopefully by the end of March we will have a trade deal with the EU that is convenient for all of our key businesses.
However, despite contingency plans, many companies are not waiting for Brexit. They worked on the task and did an excellent job.
Scientists at the University’s Derby School of Management once again used publicly available information, including Companies House data, to rank the turnover of the top 200 private sector, operating businesses with registered offices in Derby and Derbyshire.
